Vehicle Registration
All motor vehicles operating on public roads must be properly registered and licensed. Vehicle registration records must accurately identify the registered owner and contain current vehicle information including vehicle classification, registration status, and licensing details. Vehicle owners are responsible for ensuring registrations remain current and that any transfer of ownership is properly recorded.
Vehicles may also be subject to inspection and roadworthiness requirements, with commercial vehicles generally requiring more frequent inspections than private vehicles. Failure to maintain current registration, licensing, or compliance status may result in penalties or restrictions on the operation of the vehicle.

Vehicle Number Plates
From 1 July 2014, new vehicle number plates will be issued to all vehicles with the exception of G, X and Diplomatic plated vehicles. The new plates will make it easier to identify unlicensed and unregistered vehicles. There will be no fee charged for the initial replacement of the new number plates.
